Plural Forms in English
In English, nouns can be singular (one) or plural (more than one). Learning how to form plurals correctly helps students speak and write English accurately.
1. What Is a Plural Noun?
A plural noun shows that there is more than one person, place, thing, or idea.
- one book → two books
- one student → three students

الجمع هو تحويل الاسم من مفرد (شيء واحد) إلى جمع (أكثر من شيء واحد).
💡 مثال: كتاب واحد = book | كتابان أو أكثر = books
2. Regular Plural Rules
a) Adding -s
Add -s to most nouns:
- cat → cats
- pen → pens
b) Adding -es
Add -es to nouns ending in -s, -sh, -ch, -x, -z, -o:
- box → boxes
- bus → buses
c) Nouns Ending in -y
Consonant + -y ➡️ change -y to -ies: (baby → babies)
Vowel + -y ➡️ just add -s: (boy → boys)
